that is so interesting. i didn't about the flint pits, i did know about the path. is parts of it now a hallow path or is that further away. it is a very interesting area, one i keep meaning to explore more. Brilliant video 🙂

It isn't "just another Bronze Age hillfort" it was reoccupied in the late 5th/early 6th century. Its ditches were redug. a new palisade was built around the top, and new dwellings were built inside it. No other hillfort was reoccupied at this time, its scale dwarfed other fortified structures that were merely glorified farmsteads. Mediterranean pottery was found. The manpower and resources to refortify and reoccupy it would have been enormous as well as to be bringing foreign trade goods inland from the coast, particularly at a time when the economy of the Britons had severely degraded in the years following Roman withdrawal and repeated Saxon raids.
